The City of El Cerrito's Integrated Waste Management
(IWM) Division provides leadership, planning, and
implementation of comprehensive waste management
services for the community, emphasizing waste prevention
and reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting.
The IWM Division provides several recycling collection
services in the community: weekly residential curbside
recycling collection; collection at schools, public offices,
and businesses; and newspaper collection at El Cerrito's BART stations.
In September 2003, the IWM Division launched a new curbside recycling program. With input from residents,
the Recycling Task Force, and the City Council, the Curbside Recycling Program now features a simpler sorting system. No more bagging and separating papers. No more separating glass from other containers.
