The El Cerrito Recycling Center provides weekly recycling collection for all homes, apartments, and businesses in El Cerrito. All proceeds from material sales are used to maintain the curbside collection program and operations at the Recycling Center. We take pride in contributing to the El Cerrito community and providing excellent customer service to City residents.

Recycling is collected from the curbside on the same day as garbage collection. Please place your recycling bins out on the curb in a visible location by 8am on your collection day.

Curbside Collection of Used Motor Oil and Used Oil Filters

Do you change your own motor oil? El Cerrito Recycling offers free curbside pick-up of your used motor oil and used oil filters!
Pick-up is by appointment only. Please call (510) 215-4351 to schedule an appointment.
This pick-up service is available for residents only. Maximum set-out: 2 containers (no more than 6 quarts each) and 2 oil filters.

Curbside Collection Holiday Schedule

During the calendar year, El Cerrito Recycling Center adjusts its pick-up schedule on the following Holidays:

New Year's Holiday

• December 31st - Collection occurs as normal on New Year's Eve.
  
• January 1st - Collection will not occur on New Year's Day. All collection for the rest of that work week will be shifted one day later. (Ex: If the Holiday occurs on a Thursday, normal Thursday collection will occur on Friday and normal Friday collection will occur on Saturday)

  Thanksgiving Holiday
  

• Thanksgiving Day - Collection will not occur on Thanksgiving Day. Please put your recyclable materials out for collection on your regular collection day during the following week.
  
• The Friday after Thanksgiving Day - Collection will not occur on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day. Please put your recyclable materials out for collection on your regular collection day during the following week.

  Christmas Holiday
  

• December 24th - Collection occurs as normal on Christmas Eve.
• December 25th - Collection will not occur on Christmas Day. All collection for the rest of that work week will be shifted one day later. (Ex: If the Holiday occurs on a Thursday, normal Thursday collection will occur on Friday and normal Friday collection will occur on Saturday.)

For all other Holidays not listed above, curbside recycling service will occur as normal. Please note, however, that the Recycling Center may be closed on those Holidays. For a full listing of Recycling Center hours, please click on the "Recycling Center" link on the left navigation bar.

(Please note that the schedule above is for curbside recycling collection only. East Bay Sanitary, the City's provider of Garbage and green waste collection services, observes only two holidays per year: Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Garbage and green waste collection during these two Holidays follows the same schedule listed above for recycling service.
